One of the most perplexing things about being a Vegan is the often very passionate objection from those around us. If you're already a Vegan you know exactly what I mean. If you've not made the change YET then just accept that there's going to 'curiosity' and 'interest' (which is great), but you're going to experience family, friends and colleagues who are maybe 'surprised', or who don't 'understand why' or even sadly go as far as criticise.
Education is the key, education defeats ignorance. Time will win out, it is already happening.

Make YOUR DECISIONS, because it's YOUR LIFE.
LIVE YOUR LIFE, make sure YOUR ACTIONS match YOUR THINKING. (not somebody else's)
"The question we must ask ourselves as a culture is whether we want to embrace the change that must come, or resist it. Are we so attached to the dietary fallacies with which we were raised, so afraid to counter the arbitrary laws of eating taught to us in childhood by our misinformed parents, that we cannot alter the course they set us on, even it it leads to our own ruin? Does the prospect of standing apart or encountering ridicule scare us even from saving ourselves? Howard F. Lyman (US farmer and Animal Rights Activist)
Why faux meat?
"Surely if you don't want to eat meat you wouldn't want pretend meat?" or "Well you clearly want meat because you're eating food that looks like meat?"..... you will hear these or similar for sure.
Why faux meat? pretend meat? Meat Substitutes? Dairy Substitutes? Vegan Cheese?
Is obvious really; it allows an easy first move to being meat-free, dairy free, and there's no animal suffering and to a great degree we can all adopt immediately without the need to learn how to cook again. That can come over time.
