In the summer of 2009 both The Telegraph and National Geographic reported on a miraculous 'rescue' in North East China.
During a free diving contest in 'Polar Land' amid Beluga Whales, one contestant, Yang Yun found herself suddenly in difficulty. The icy waters had given her leg cramps and she couldn't get herself back to the surface. "I began to choke and sank even lower and I thought that was it for me" Yang Yun explains.
At this moment 'Mila' a Beluga Whale stepped in and rescued the diver. Spotting the diver was in difficulty Mila gently gripped her legs in her mouth and pushed her to the surface. An organiser explained "She's a sensitive animal who works closely with humans, and I think this girl owes her life".
